FAQ

    • Is this going to cost my district money? No, there is never a charge for any service or product we provide. That’s not to say we will always be able to provide every material you request as we are working with a finite budget.
    • Which students are eligible for services? All Oklahoma students K-12 who are being currently served under an IEP that states they have a print disability are eligible.
    • When to I need to place my braille requests? Braille requests should be placed as soon as you can confirm that a student will need the text for the next year. We’d love to have all braille requests in by mid March but we realize that’s not always possible. Braille can many months to produce so don’t wait until school starts to make a request or your student may not receive their materials.
    • When to I need to place my large print requests? In order to receive large print text by the start of school, requests must be submitted before June 30th.
    • When will I receive the materials I requested? In general, we schedule delivery 1 week before the start of school for requests received before June 30th. Later orders will be mailed as they are produced. If you need a different delivery date, just let us know.
    • Do I need to contact both Liberty Braille and the AIM Center? If you contact Liberty first, we will check with the AIM center and order any texts they have available on your behalf. If you contact AIM first, you will need to make a separate request from Liberty for any titles AIM cannot provide.
    • Can a parent order on behalf of their IEP qualified child? No. An educator from the district where the student’s IEP is filed must request the materials.
    • Can Liberty Braille provide materials for a private school student? Yes, as long as that student has a current IEP with through a public school and the request is made by an educator at that pubic school.
    • Can my student write in their large print workbook? Yes. Any item that is considered a consumable can be written in and “consumed” by your VI student in the same way a regularly sighted student would. You do not need to return workbook volumes that have been written in.
    • How do I return materials when my student is done with them? Use our pre-formatted mailing label and send the materials back to our warehouse at 6775 Boucher Drive, #2, Edmond 73034. Most LEAs find it easiest to use the US Post Office to mail the materials via Free Matter for the Blind.
